Socialtext Free 50!

Ok so this whole week at work I have been trying to get our SalesForce together and organized.  The problem my boss wants everyone’s contacts synced with her outlook, and thus to her iPhone.  The problem….duplicates!  Different owners = different contacts.  I have been reading everything I can find on SalesForce to try and fix this problem for 4 days….and I got nothing. I am sure SalesForce is a great tool if you know how to use it.  The problem for me is that everyone only knows enough to get into trouble, and make a big mess of things.

So it got me thinking about if there are any other ways to make this work, or any other programs I could use.  I remember Ross (my awesome boss last summer) tweeting about Socialtext’s new free 50 earlier this week.  Socialtext platform is now free for fewer than 50 users.  After working there last summer I completely understand the power of having a collaboration tool…..and can’t believe I didn’t think of Socialtext before (I guess I am only 2 weeks in, so I will cut myself a break).  Anyways so today I set up Socialtext free 50!  It is not going to be a replacement to SalesForce, but it is a great added tool.  I am a bit biased since I did an internship there, and have slightly more knowledge on the product.  But I must say I was blown away by how easy it was to get the free 50 going.  One email and you are done.  Everyone in the company can (and should) join and you have a common collaboration page with great tools.  It is set up so clearly and is so easy to use.  Anyone can get the hang of it after playing around for 5 minuets.  It is laid out just like Google chrome.  Socialtext is in a way like twitter; until you start using it you don’t see how much value it can bring to your life.  I would really encourage everyone to check this out.  It will be a huge value to your company!

What I have learned the first 3 weeks on the job

-Attitude is everything

-Finding a cute but professional outfit in the morning is a fun challenge

-Going outside at least twice a day is a must

-If you don’t work out in the morning before work, it likely won’t happen

-Google chrome gives you everything you need in the morning (weather, horoscope, joke of the day, CNN, funny picture of the day, etc…..)

-I wish all businesses were paperless

-Pandora.com = Life Saver

-Faxing (how is it that those machines are not yet outdated????)

-Traffic is just as bad as you thought it would be

You have got to be kidding me!

It is something I wouldn’t openly admit in the beginning….however I have come around.  I love segways! I think they are hilarious, and I really really wanna take a segway tour of the city.  But today as I was reading my morning blogs in bed I came across this from Meghan Asha’s Blog.  A CHANEL SEGWAY!!!! hahaha it is too funny.  I wonder who their target market is for this piece?  The real desperate housewives of the OC, Atlanta, Jersey?…. Or perhaps something else.

I’m Lovin it!

I am loving the new search engine bing.  I think everyone should at least check it out.  Even if you are google loyal.  Not that bing searches than much better, in fact it pretty much turns up the same exact items as google or yahoo.  BUT……It is simple, no clutter, or extra crap you don’t want.  It is pretty, they do a spotlight on a new place in the world every day.  The way searches are populated is different.  It’s new so why not check it out. 

I Won’t Go Hungry!

I got a job this week.  Wow! I can’t believe how excited I am.  I put in a lot of hard work to find a job, and hopefully I job I would like enough ot be able handle going to every day.  I got so lucky.  I am actually really really excited about this job.  Not that I thought I would get a crappy job, but with I was thinking I wasn’t going to able to be picky.  The Company is St. Croix Promotions.  In short what they do is creative advertising and promotional products for companies.  This was not an industry that I was considering or looking for, but when I interviewed at their office, and got a feel for it I got really excited.  I don’t really know much about the industry but I am excited to get started and learn as much as I can.  I am going to be working with the CEO Paddy Regnier, and learnign from her.  Who better?  To take a look at her blog click here.
