What Myspace has over Facebook

Facebook is perceived as the premier social networking website today. Premier in the sense that its users are loyal and trustworthy. Though Myspace got bigger faster, in terms of users. However Facebook created a feeling of exclusivity first (because it was only available to college students). Now Facebook has slowly allowed more and more people to join their network. Even though Facebook has now droped their “exclusivness” down, but they are still deemed as trustworthy and more “cool” than myspace. Mark Zuckerberg is either a genius or very lucky, and I am going with genius.
However Myspace still has a hand up on Facebook. While in my opinion Facebook is the best social networking sight for friends, pictures, and general fun; I believe that Myspace has a lot more opportunity. Myspace has really taken advantage of having different kinds of profiles, while it may seem like a minor detail, it has paid off huge. There are not only profiles for the regular Joe, but also for musicians, comedians, movies, businesses, etc… This has a HUGE advantage.
Myspace has now become the absolute 1st place to go for a musician to get their music recognized. With stories like Colbie Caillat’s it is plausible that using Myspace could work for anyone. Myspace music is one of the fastest and easiest ways for your music to get recognized; with audio, video, and photos. You can also easily search other artists and musicians you might like. Its a dream in the same way for comedians. Able to post their stand up audio and videos. Not to mention a list of upcoming shows and events
Using Myspace is now basically vital in the entertainment industry, because you have to get your work out there, and there is no better or faster way to reach the masses.
The way I see it is that Myspace is basically the Target (as in the store) for the social networking world.
